Although it hasn't been the start to term that we had all wished for, I have been so impressed by the work and effort put in by the pupils and their families in Year 3 and 4.
On Thursday this week, we had a lovely Teams call. It was great to see all the children with smiles on their faces and chatting to one another! It certainly made my week.
There has been fantastic engagement by all of the pupils in our blended learning approach. Google Classroom has been a great way to keep in contact, set tasks, receive completed work and give feedback!
Our new topic is animals. Over the last couple of weeks Year 3 and 4 have been learning about the different ways to sort and organise animals. They have used tables, Venn diagrams and classification keys. This week they went on a wildlife hunt and used the data they collected to create their own classification key.
As part of the animals topic they have found out what it means if an animal is endangered. The pupils felt passionate about raising awareness about some of the fantastic endangered animals across the World and have researched an animal of their choice to create a fact file all about it. They also created a super piece of art work using their best observation skills and thinking about their knowledge of symmetry.
Another of my highlights this week was watching the presentations which all of the pupils prepared and recorded on a subject of their choice. This begun as a Christmas homework, but I couldn't wait any longer to see what they had prepared. It certainly didn't disappoint either! The knowledge and enthusiasm which the pupils showed was super. I watched presentations on a wide range of topics, many on animals including geckos, polar bears, hamsters, dogs and rabbits, to electricity, the Sun, South Africa and super heroes!
Our maths work is going well with lots of children showing impressive problem solving skills. Year 3 and 4 are using the White Rose maths videos and tasks to work through the multiplication and division area of mathematics.
A big well done to all of Year 3 and 4 for their hard work so far. Next week we are celebrating a special day in Wales. Can you guess what it is? Miss R :)
