Year 3 and 4 have had a lovely start to the year!
We have been enjoying learning about our topic Magical Me and in particular, what’s inside our bodies.
This week the children have worked with their talking partner to research one of the organs we have. They began by deciding what they would need to find out and then used a combination of books and online searches to find the information.
In expressive arts we have been investigating colours and how artists use colours in different ways, such as to create a mood. This week we looked at analogue colours. These the groups of 3 colours which are next to each other on the colour wheel. We decided to explore the village and to collect different shades of leaves which we could then arrange into a colour wheel. It was very effective!
Our Language work has been focused on instructional writing recently. We have been helping ourselves and others to stay safe by focusing on how to wash your hands properly. At the beginning of the week we decided to test how accurate our step by step instructions were by asking ‘Miss Roberts the Robot’ to follow them. Later we decided to make some improvements as ‘The Robot’ ended up with soap on her face! Once our editing was complete we all wrote our HOT WRITE, the final copy.
In Maths we are focusing on the number strand at the moment. This week we have been using different methods to double and half 2 and 3 digit numbers. We enjoyed a Maths of the Day session and a game of loop cards.
This week year 3 and 4 have homework to complete. It is to choose and write about which of the school committees we would like to be a member of.
Have a lovely weekend.
