Headteacher’s Blog 3rd September 2021

A big thank you to the Staff for all that they have done on the Staff Training Days. We had a busy on the Wednesday completing our Safeguarding update training. We also had a Covid advice update. The staff then did a wonderful job of ensuring that their classes were ready to welcome learners on the Friday.

Yesterday all the Teachers attended a virtual Conference on the New Curriculum. This was very inspiring with an opening presentation from Mick Waters, who was instrumental in the planning of the Curriculum. The day continued with high quality training opportunities.

This is already showing an impact as Mr Samuels’ thinking task for the weekend reflects the principles of the Conference.

Callum was so eager to complete the task he was discussing his contribution as Mum arrived to collect him at the end of the day.

We would like to officially welcome Mr Samuels, Miss McCormick and Mrs Barlow to our school staff for the year. Croeso, I am sure you will enjoy your time with us.

It seemed a little strange returning on a Friday, but it was nice to have one day before a full return next week. We had lots of pupils who had so obviously enjoyed their first day back in school. It was lovely to welcome Ava for her official first day in school. We also loved having Robbie back. We were expecting some return to school nerves but they all disappeared very quickly.

A big thank you to parents – the pupils all looked so smart.

The school theme for this term in Journeys. The teachers will send out more detailed information to parents next week.

I have a fantastic team who support each other and the children. On the Training yesterday they discussed the difference between a ‘cold’ school and a ‘warm’ school. We are definitely a warm school.

If you need After School Club or Breakfast Club next week can you please book in. This would really help Miss Williams to plan her time.

A lovely start to our new school year. Well done everyone.
