Headteacher’s Blog 20th May 2022

Another busy week for everyone. With even more excitement to come next week.

The Early Years pupils have been helping us to get ready for the Jubilee. They have been making some crowns for the occasion and they have continued making flowers to decorate the Church. They have been enjoying their Castle theme, I had to smile when I saw Joseph carrying a shield whilst walking his big brother to school this morning.

Dosbarth Branwen have been very busy with all their activities. They are really enjoying the theme of Castles and it fits in so well with all the Jubilee celebrations. In Numeracy with Miss Mac pupils created their own ‘Queen’s cocktail’ which comprised of different fruits and juices. This was a capacity challenge but very yummy! They have been completing all their phonic work and spellings with Mrs John and planning the Jubilee party in their language work. They were all superstars at practicing the Ymadrodd yr Wythnos – Welsh phrase of the week. They could all tell me ‘Es i i ……’ with lots of confidence and smiles. They then had the treat of all the special celebrations for the Jubilee – all the flowers to decorate the Church and the pictures of the Queen. The ‘Queen’s Jubilee’ raised bed looks absolutely stunning, well done!

Dosbarth Nant Ddraig have had Wrexham AFC visited to start the week off again and the training obviously paid off with an exciting match against Gwernymynydd. The children loved finally being able to play against another school and we had a successful penalty shootout!

Speaking of excitement, the class all enjoyed their trip to Explore in Wrexham. They were able to experience lots of scientific experiments and games. Mr Hills was incredibly impressed by their coding skills - they even made a lego lion that moved using programming and a motor.

In art, the children have made wonderful origami and 3D flowers to decorate the church in celebration of the Jubilee. I am amazed at the creativity and care that have been put into them.

A big well done to everyone for the football match. It was so good to welcome another team back to school again. It was lovely to hear they had a warm welcome which they would like to reciprocate.

Diolch yn fawr, all of you for doing such a good job with the raised beds.

We ended the week in style with the Open the Book worship. Our volunteers were short staffed this week but the children stepped in to take on the extra roles. We were very proud of them! We had a lot of fun at the end as we sang two of our Worship songs with lots of actions.

We are looking forward to 26th May when we celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Don’t forget to book in for your bacon butty for the start of the celebrations on Thursday morning!
