Headteacher’s Blog 12th March 2021

Another lovely week in school and it will be even better when Key Stage 2 return. The staff will be so pleased to welcome everyone back.

I have had such a treat this week. Foundation Phase have been treasures! Year 2 are producing Fantastic independent work. Mum’s are going to have such a treat on Mothering Sunday. I was so pleased with the standard of work achieved, a big well done to the Home Educators – Parents during lockdown and Mrs John. I was really pleased with their confidence in showing their work and reading it to me.

Nursery and Reception have been treasures too! Mum’s will be so pleased with their cards on Sunday, lots of smiling faces. They used their own handprints to make flowers for their cards for Mum. That is so personal and such a lovely keepsake to treasure. Thank you, Miss Douggie and Mrs Whitehead.

The Risk assessments have been updated once again for us to be able to welcome Key Stage 2 back. I dislike that job but I was so glad to do it to have a complete school on Monday.

They have also been designing and creating their own Dragon! Wow, such creativity linked to a Diocesan challenge for ‘Tell me a Dragon’. The Dragon is a masterpiece. The children decided on his Colour, Size, Shape and all the other characteristics. I love the camouflage, the wonderful rainbow scales and how long is that tail? Apparently, he also likes to swim and spritz off water – what a clever dragon. Most of all I love all the smiling faces from the ‘creative contributors’ as they would be called in the language of the New Curriculum who have designed such a fabulous beast. I am sure Mrs Downes will be proud of these pupils.

I was disappointed today, I had training this morning. I arrived in school after lunch to hear about the fabulous Pizza served for school lunches. It was so good it had all disappeared. The little difficulties we had with the lunches initially seem to have improved, let’s hope they meet with approval from Key Stage 2 pupils next week too!
