Headteacher’s Blog 12th February 2021

A big thank you to everyone for all your efforts this half term. We have worked together to support our pupils. Staff have been fantastic at supporting Well-being alongside the learning.

Teachers have prepared interesting learning resources to support our pupils. Parents have embraced all of the lovely activities and shared pupil achievement.

The staff have also been supporting the Hub learners with all their usual skill. Helping everyone complete their tasks and more importantly keeping them smiling.

We are so looking forward to welcoming the Foundation Phase pupils back into school after half term. We are asking Reception, Year 1 and 2 to come into school on Monday 22nd February. Once pupils are settled into their routines again, we will welcome Nursery pupils back on Wednesday 24th February.

At least this is a very positive start!

The Director of Education emailed Headteacher’s today, saying that the data is positive and supportive of their decision to advise schools to reopen for Foundation Phase.

I hope we will be able to welcome all of our pupils into key stage 2 soon.

There are a few changes to the Risk Assessment following the Updated Operational Guidance. When we return on 22ndFebruary, everyone is expected to wear a mask on the school estate unless they can safely keep their distance.

This means that teaching staff are expected to wear masks in class whilst working with pupils. Pupils are not expected to wear masks.

Welsh Government are also going to provide Covid test kits which school staff can use twice a week. This is on a voluntary basis but I am sure most staff will welcome this.

I hope all of the extra mitigations alongside the vaccination process helps reduce the rates in the Community. We are very keen to see all our pupils return to school. It is Welsh Week during our first week back so here are a couple of photos of the Foundation Phase classroom! All ready for our lovely pupils!
