A very big thank you to staff once again who have done a fantastic job of making this last week really enjoyable for everyone. We have had some staff absence but everyone has made sure learners haven’t been impacted.
I know that some classes and After School clubs have been closed in local schools.
A big thank you to our staff for managing to run the clubs and continue to offer the Cookery Club and the Craft nights.
Tonight’s craft night looks very exciting. Mrs Whitehead hadbrought lots of greenery into school and also showed me how she planned to help the children create reindeer biscuits.Everyone had a wonderful time.
We had a brilliant Christmas lunch on Wednesday, enjoyed by all.
The scene was set – decorated tables and Christmas cups with a cracker for everyone!
A big thank you to Miss Williams who asked her other half to bring an extra box as we were two crackers short. That certainly isn’t in her job description. I was very appreciative -far better than a last-minute dash to the shop.
Everyone enjoyed listening to all the Christmas music whilst eating the lunch. The decorated brownie for pudding was a big hit too.
The older pupils have been really impressive this week. They have demonstrated so many cross curricular skills. They have shown they are Enterprising, creative contributors and Ambitious, capable learners – two of the four purposes from the New Curriculum.
They have been working on so many exciting projects for their inhouse Christmas fair. Everything looks so exciting.. I can’t wait! Orla, Samuel and Alfie have created some wonderful Christmas gifts which are available to purchase in Reception. Orders are already in! Well done Year 6 showing independence and entrepreneurial skills!
Dosbarth Branwen have had lots of fun too alongside all their work. Mrs John had created some fun Christmas activity books. The learners were really enjoying them without realising how much work they were doing. They have completed their Christmas letter writing after editing their work. In Maths they have followed instructions to make ‘Elf Juice’ and ‘Reindeer Food’. A great deal of measurement and capacity being consolidated. They really enjoyed having Mr Hills in their class today and he did say he had lots of fun teaching them.
One of the highlights of the week is always the Open the Book assembly.
They acted out the story of the Nativity. They received high praise from Mr Samuels who offered them a part in the school production for next year.
We also sang Mrs John’s favourite Christmas song. I think Families will have a treat when they hear the recording.
We gave our Brenin yr Wythnos to Alys in Dosbarth Branwen for Wisdom and to Callum for being so Creative and Enterprising in Dosbarth Nant Ddraig. We are also very thankful to Erin for her donation of a beautiful Christmas Tree and decorations after saving some of her ‘Erin’s Eggs’ money!
We also had a special Governors award for Alice for being such a Good Citizen, she has organised a fantastic fundraiser for Nightingale House. We are so proud of her thoughtfulness for others and her generosity. The Governors wanted to recognise this by giving her a special award.
We are aiming to practice in Church on Monday morning and then go back to the Church in the afternoon looking splendid in costume to record the songs to share with all.
We have got all of our Christmas activities planned out, everyone will enjoy the time left in school. Thank you so much for your continued support with everything.
