An end to half term already but such a great one we had! The week has mainly comprised of the pupils planning the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations.
Dosbarth Nant Ddraig finished creating their fossils which they painted beautifully. You will see from the pictures how realistic they look! Thank you Mrs Pierce and Mr Hill’s for supporting the pupils learning and skill development in the world of Dinosaurs!
Mrs Ewels came to deliver a presentation and talk with us all about supporting Refugees. Pupils made us very proud with their knowledge and compassion shown towards people who need our support. Mrs Ewels is one of our parent Governors who has also delivered this presentation to our Nercwys friends. A big thank you to her as this gives us more knowledge about being a school of sanctuary as well as broadens our horizon into the wider world affairs.
Mrs Pierce has been supporting the federation with Guided Reading this term and it is wonderful to see evidence of the pupils higher order reading skills being challenged in their Language and Literacy lessons. Well done to all staff who have now started developing this area which will further their professional development and strengthen pupils language development.
Pupils across both classes have now finished their flowers ready for the Jubilee Flower Festival in Church. Thank you Mrs Whitehead for offering to put all this together to create a window display. I’m really looking forward to seeing it on Friday 3rd in Church.
Branwen have enjoyed planning the Queen’s Jubilee party! They have produced a party invitation after deciding key elements which are needed when you invite someone to an event. They created a fresh fruit punch ’Queen’s Cocktail’ in their Numeracy lesson and this was enjoyed at our celebrations! Pupils in Forest School continued to sew an edging for the Jubilee Planter and did a cracking job of the weeding! It was lovely to see pupils enjoying making squelchy mud in which they proceeded to get stuck in! A super amount of language and vocabulary came from this! Pupils continued to use tools to hammer and print wild flowers pictures which are beautiful.
A big well done to our Juniors and Mrs Barlow who have been busy planting at the Eco Classroom, we can’t wait to taste some of the vegetables and see the flowers grow!
Pupils loved making the table decorations for the Jubilee and making games linked to our Queen! Wink, Wink, Queen, Pin the Crown on the Queen and Queen Says are just some of the games we played! Thank you Miss Mac for such fun! The lunch was yummy and thank you Mrs Biddle and Julie for organising all the party food! It was yummy Newydd Catering!
The Morning of our Jubilee began with a Sovereign Breakfast for all our families! A huge thank you to Mrs Whitehead and Miss Williams for providing such a wonderful morning for all ~ and the bacon butty’s were yum!
The Jubilee Bake Off was splendid! The effort pupils had gone to was remarkable. Pupils were all provided with a certificate and the winners went away with some treats! Thank you for all your wonderful efforts.
The School Council did a stirling job of writing our Prayer for the special Jubilee service. They also helped tell the story of the Queen’s life before they were presented with a special commemorative Jubilee silver coin from Mr Marc Owen who represented the Community Council. A huge thank you to our Community Council for this wonderful gift for every child. Our pupils have a timeless keepsake which they will treasure.
The evening finished off a very busy term with the Jubilee disco for our whole federation! A massive amount of dancing and fun whilst eating treats! Thank you PTA for organising this and running a lovely end to a very busy term!
The training days are planned around our school values and the new Curriculum for Wales. We are working alongside Mrs Downes our previous Headteacher who is now the Education Officer for the Diocese. We are looking forward to sharing with you our planned ‘Values Day’ with our learners and all the next steps to our Curriculum design.
We hope you have a lovely week and enjoy the Queen’s Jubilee wherever you are!
