We are really having a lovely time in school! We have been really enjoying our new topic ‘Into this Universe‘ and exploring different world religions and faiths. We began exploring Christianity, visiting our beautiful Church and finding out what Christianity means. This was followed up by Buddhism, Judaism and next week Sikhism. Last week we had our own Shabbat and explored what a Torah was. We created our own Torah and some of our Year 2 pupils decided to explore Hebrew! I was utterly impressed with their Hebrew writing.
Thank you to all our families and community for providing plants and planters! Our school is looking well loved once again! We are growing some tomatoes, potatoes and courgettes which will be yum!
We have loved our football Fridays but sadly the rain and wind stopped us in our tracks today! The last one is next Friday 28th May.
In Forest School we have been exploring minibeasts which has been fun! Mud painting, identifying, finding, making and creating clay mini beasts has helped us explore God’s world and appreciate our little beasts! In language we have continued to develop our phonic knowledge learning to blend and decode as well as using our 8 reading behaviours to extend and develop our skills. Oracy is a large part of our curriculum and an area for development across our Foundation Phase. Talking Partners is an enjoyable way of interaction about certain topics and questions. The Magic Faraway Tree is a hit! One of Mrs John’s favourites! The only criticism is... ‘Mrs John, you keep stopping the story on an exciting bit!’
On Friday we stopped mid chapter and in our partners we had to draw what we think happened next...nothing prepared us for what REALLY happened! Giggles and laughs all round!
in Numeracy we have explored measure, capacity and weight. Pupils have worked practically gaining new skills, reading scales and using new vocabulary.
Have a lovely weekend everyone. it looks like a ‘jumping in muddy puddles’ type of weekend!
