Lots of fun this week leading up to our Christmas break! School has shut early but home learning began Thursday morning.
Pupils have worked so incredibly hard, we are all very proud of them. This terms Language and Literacy has mainly consisted of basic skills, phonics, handwriting, oracy and story writing. A great effort during December as pupils learnt their class story, ‘Oliver’s Vegetables’ through a Talk for Writing oracy style using a story map. They used expression and actions whilst recalling the story in great detail. This supported the pupils to then create their story maps and write their story.
In Maths and Numeracy, we have focused on basic skills, the number system to 5,10, 20 and 100. We have been using addition, subtraction and multiplication. We all enjoyed using money in Oliver’s farm shop to buy and sell veg! We used our Numeracy skills to work out how much our vegetable soup and Christmas trees cost to make!
We have enjoyed our outdoor games in PE, learning how to work as a team and developing our throwing, catching and batting skills. We have just started to use our Mini Yoga strategies to support our breathing and help us manage our emotions. We love using all the techniques and will continue this into the Spring Term. Our Christmas digital Nativity based around a story called ‘Refuge’ has been a wonderful project. We do hope you have enjoyed watching it on your child’s Seesaw account. This was child led and certainly evolved with pupils ideas!
Congratulations to James, Dougie and Ava for being presented an award from the Bishop! They came Highly Commended in the Bishop’s Christmas Card Competition! Bendigedig!
Wishing all our lovely families a happy Christmas and let’s hope for a better 2021!
Love Mrs John xx
