5th April

Notes from the Head

It has been a privilege to take Yr 6 on their residential trip to Cardiff this week. We joined with Ysgol Lixwm, Ysgol Nercwys, Ysgol Y Foel, Ysgol Gwernymynydd and Ysgol Yr Esgob.

We stayed at the Urdd centre and experienced our Capital and Welsh culture. The morning spent at the Senedd was wonderful, experiencing the council chamber and what a debate would really feel like if we were a minister! The pupils behaved impeccably and it was a joy seeing them make new friends ready for their transition to high school.

We held our final Mother’s Day lunch on Thursday. A huge thank you to Janice and Mrs Biddle for all their wonderful effort. A big thank you to our lovely mum‘s for coming along and sharing this lovely occasion with their children.

We have parent’s evening on Monday and we are looking forward to sharing your child’s progress with you.

We are also looking forward to the Easter Bingo and Egg hunt at Ysgol Nercwys next Thursday. Please come along and support this lovely event for families of both schools!

At our Federation Governors meeting we discussed the name of our Federation and all votes were counted. The most votes went to ‘Nantlwys’ which is an amalgamation of 2 names, stream and church. A very thoughtful name which we are looking forward to using for the federation from 29th April.

Pupils have enjoyed continuing their fact files based around their castle research. The shared fact file Reception created was very detailed and a lot of research had been found! Yr 1 and 2 are still working on theirs and Yr 2 are enjoying the digital challenge.

Nursery enjoyed inviting their Mum‘s for Mother’s Day lunch and presenting them with lovely flowers! Thank you for coming along Mum’s!

In guided reading pupils focused on comprehension and punctuation. In Numeracy pupils had to estimate objects of different measurements around the classroom.

We read the Easter Story in RE and then had to sequence it. Mrs Biddle created an Easter Small World area for us to make crosses and Easter gardens. We are practising tieing knots too!

We had a lot of fun on Friday, Make the Rules Day! We came to school dressed in funny clothes and had funny hair styles! This was all to raise money for our lovely school! Well done everyone.
